Principal – Ben Mettam

With a Master of Theatre and Performance, Ben brings over two decades of acting and directing experience to the Academy. His leadership within the Tamworth Musical and Dramatic Societies includes serving as Committee Member, President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Producer. Ben’s professional development includes extensive training with the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), enabling him to deliver youth workshop programs, as well as directing workshops with Bill Blaikie and facilitator training with Outback Theatre for Young People’s Regional Arts Connect.

His acting credits range from musicals like Les Misérables, West Side Story, The Music Man, Annie, and Sweeney Todd to plays such as The Mousetrap, Lend Me a Tenor, Nell Gwynn, and The Small Poppies. He has directed Into the Woods, Company, Rumors, Jesus Christ Superstar, RENT, and for the O’Grady Drama Performance Ensemble, Prickly Love and Wendy & Peter Pan.
